I got my cast off. Yay! So far, walking is a bit painful, but not because of the healed bone. The muscles are so sore and tight that I'm limping--not what I expected, but I hope it will pass soon. My piled-up, scaly skin was absolutely disgusting for a few days, but scrubbing has taken care of that.

We had a week with more Fremont-to-San Francisco trips than one might care to pay gas for, but we saw a lot of friends and can say we saw some interesting things (like a guy who fell over my wheelchair and loudly said the F-word while I was watching fireworks from Ghirardelli Square). Michael also catered to my wishes and spiral cut a hot dog for grilling for me.

Can you believe we're halfway through the year?
Some insanely relieving things happened this week, but I'm still feeling completely worn out today from all the pressure. It's great to have the most patient and loving supporter in the world, people willing to give me rides sometimes, new books from the library, government willing to support its citizens, new acquaintances interested in similar subjects, online forums where I can complain and sympathize my heart out, the amazingness of Freecycle, aloe vera plants to cool off my angry skin (I didn't know how itchy aloe vera can be, though), a different color of neon nail polish on each hand, and the pride of inventing and enjoyment of the most refreshing drink ever at The Ice Cream Bar (Sica said it was like sipping a cucumber--if you grace SF with your presence, I'll show you the place and maybe even let you try a sip).

We made eclairs last night. They are huge monsters heavy with pudding filling. Yum! This week was full of acupuncture appointments, a beating of a massage I got for free (and which actually seems to make sense--making the sore places mad fires up the cyto-somethings to clear out scar tissue), and planning (which mostly means moping because nothing seems to be coming together). I hope to get a lot done today.

This week? Acupuncture, finishing up some work stuff, celebrating my nephew's first birthday, made one big decision and have many more to go, tried to figure out how to get foot surgery and still be able to live in and make it around steep-hilled, many-staired San Francisco in a wheelchair.

Flying with a cast and a wheelchair is okay--people are quite helpful. The after-effects however . . . not so good. My feet were über-swollen for days. However, I was so glad I got to honor Uncle Al and spend time with family. He will be missed.

Even though I burned the orange popovers I was making (30 minutes is too long), I'm feeling pretty great about this Friday night. I don't know if I'd mind if every day were a Friday with weather like today. This week, I got to eat delicious, spinach-containing smoothies (not as oxymoronic as you'd think!), meet some Mormon neighborhood friends, walk 4.7 unplanned miles on a hot day, finish a video project, and try Indian pizza (wowzers). On to the links to love!

It's been a loooong week, and I feel like I've gotten nothing personal done. I think I need to get computer glasses because I've been having major headaches, my temples are sore from squinting, and my vision seems to be getting worse. (Where do I find cute computer glasses? Lookmatic doesn't have any. All I've seen is these, and some sites suggest going to an eye doctor for a computer glasses prescription, but I've no insurance.)
