Scrabbled

To my utter joy, Michael has recently learned to enjoy playing Scrabble with me. Unfortunately, the nearly-70-year-old Scrabble game I inherited from my great uncle was missing 15 tiles.

I was disappointed to find you can't really order just the tiles you need from the game maker, but I'm ecstatic that it only took $8.50 to get all the missing letters from someone on Etsy! Get your own here (and get 10% off with 10OFF code).

Hot Pink Lipstick

Alexis Bledel's hot pink lipstickEver since I almost died when I saw this picture of Alexis Bledel wearing hot pink lipstick (or fuchsia/neon/flourescent/whatever-you-want-to-call-it-pink), I've wanted to try it out for myself. It took a lot of browsing and one return, but I finally pulled off something similar for myself and I'm super happy about it even though I'd still love to find Alexis's exact matte shade (just excuse the absent professional photographer, good background and lighting, and makeup artist--maybe if all of those had been available, my blue eyes might pop like that, too).

The baby who tried to grab my lips and the guy who said, "You're wearing really bright lipstick," probably think the shade agrees with me, too. Right?

And in case you're interested, the shade is Covergirl's #325, "Spellbound."

Camera Craziness

I just discovered that when I set my camera to show my pictures as a slide show, it plays cheesy elevator music with the slide show. Ha ha! Hilarious!

On a sadder note, it's always drama with cameras! Best Buy is still being lame. This guy answered my request unsatisfactorily, so I replied to clarify, and he said I should contact the manager at Best Buy, which was the whole reason I contacted him in the first place. I'd had it. I emailed back and raged. I even said "Oh brother" and "nightmare" and "can't anyone help me?"

He replied saying if I didn't get an email from them within 24 hours to write back. No email. Big surprise.

Week Highlights

I was told that I have the best English "[he's] heard in Germany." Ha ha. I love that.

I bought a new bike. I love to ride it! I got it from the Leipzig/German version of Craig's List (Das Schwarze Brett) and I only paid 30 Euros for it. See my post about bikes at my cultural comparisons blog. I should name my bike. Any ideas?

My tomato plant (singular) has grown. Barely. I should name it, too.

After the first day, my block seminar was canceled until next week.

I made some of the best bread yet. Okay, so I use bread mix, but my bread is always funny. Half of it goes down the drain because it refuses to remove itself from my hands (the mixer I used to use went with the roommate who moved out). And the middle is always gooey, but not this time. And yes, there is a missing chunk in the picture where I got a little to eager to try it.

The class I teach lasted less than thirty minutes this week. Ha ha ha. I guess this shows my POV that classes are just there to give you motivating deadlines. I'm also quite proud that I corrected/graded all of the essays they turned in that very day and that they are getting better.

Mike saw me coveting those zippy jackets with crazy patterns on them that are in right now (I think in both America and Germany), and somehow he got me one! If my eyes look horrible in this picture, it's because they are (allergies). Let's just say I can't wait until we have my animals in America class in the park this afternoon. Not.

I finally watched some of Euro 2008 (guilty pleasure). You can watch online for free at this website by clicking on "Live Video."
