Child Art, Mormon History, Tomato Plant, and DVD Regions

This artist Yeondoo Jung takes artwork from kids and makes photographs designed after them. Isn't that cool? Take a look at this blog. (Amy Lawson should submit a few of her drawings, ha ha.)

Also, here's one of the most succinct but accurate histories I've ever read of the modern Church. Of course, it's written by a Mormon.

All the forces of nature have joined against me to not allow me any tomatoes. Since I moved to Germany, I thought it would be cool to have tomatoes that I could just take off the plant and slice up onto my sandwiches, but first the people who said I could take some gardening dirt kept forgetting it. I solved that problem by using a kitchen spoon to chop at that weeds taking over the building's back yard (I did it in the early morning when less people would stare out their windows at me) and then I borrowed a little bit of dirt from each of the plants on our kitchen window sill. Well, germination is supposed to be 7-10 days, but I'm pretty sure it's been several weeks. I planted at least ten seeds hoping for something, anything, and here's what I've got:

I've already been made fun of for not having an enormous pot, but hey, I was planning on transplanting when it gets big enough.

Last but not least, I just have to complain about DVD regions. I never know what to do, it's ridiculous. Why should I have to buy region 1 for America and region 2 for Europe? Computers are only allowed to change the region three times and then they stay on that region. Why can't we all be a big happy family? I guess all DVDs will become region 3 the day we have one world currency. I've been trying to think of a name for a while now. How about the Womo, short for "World Money"? Or Globo? Do you have any ideas?

  1. Chris's brother Eric was having troubles with the regions, too, after he bought the Top Gear: Best Of DVD. I'm pretty sure he found some sort of program on the internet that rips DVDs and changes the region on them. I'll have to ask Chris about that. He'll know.
