Okay, so this is probably only funny for people who know German and have a personal link to Saxony (or who like to make fun of Sächsisch), but here's the website of my company, in Saxon-German. Hilarious.

Vater Unser (The Lord's Prayer)

I ran across this sung version of the Lord's Prayer (in German by Xavier Naidoo, a singer in Söhne Mannheims) and found it touching. Although the majority of my readers fit into two categories that make it seem like I shouldn't post this video--they don't speak German, and they don't recite the Lord's Prayer-- I hope you can listen and enjoy anyway:

American English=Cowboy Language

It has come to that. American English sounds like cowboy language to me. My own English doesn't, of course, but when I hear other peoples' English, I think, "Cowboy."

Thus, I found it hilarious when, during the Primary Program in December, some girls acted out missionaries and purposely used American accents. I think I scared some of their fun making away when I asked them to repeat it for the camera, because it's not as strong, but I still think it's funny.

Cultural Comparisons: An American in Germany

I decided that there needed to be one place for my cultural comparisons, so now there is a nicely-designed blog just for that (notice the incorporated flag colors). I already have saved over 80 subjects for posts that just need to be written, had pictures added, and posted. I think I will release them slowly as 1. I have other things to do, and 2. What if I ever run out of things? This will keep the blog going for at least a year, right?
