Frohe Weihnachten! (in English)

I kept debating what to do for this year's Christmas wishes (last year's are here). I wanted to have a picture that really had to do with Christ's birthday.

First, since it's not really possible to take a picture with the Birthday Boy himself, I thought, "Me at the Dresden Christmas Market?" There are people celebrating Christmas. I had a debate in my mind whether it was dumber to ask someone to take a picture of me being dwarfed by the Christmas pyramid or to take the picture of myself. I took the picture. And it's dumb.

Then, I thought, why not have a picture of me with the Weihnachtsmann? He's definitely a hard-core Christian since he works so hard to make Christ's birthday awesome. But that just didn't seem good enough.

Next, what about me with my Christmas boyfriend? He's very portable though he stays where I put him, he doesn't make any fusses, and he has a really cool hat (not to mention the awesome white hair). He even comes offering gifts--two soldier ornaments, a nutcracker, a wooden horse, and a tree. The only problem is, he smokes. Literally--you can open him up and place a specially-made smoking stick inside so that smoke comes out of his mouth. Sorry, I'll be looking for someone who keeps the Word of Wisdom . . .

Then I finally realized I kind of could take a picture of me with Christ.

So on this cold winter's night, I wish you a merry Christmas with the following poem:

My poem skills are not the best,
but I wanted to wish with all the rest
a "Frohe Weihnachten" and a "guten Rutsch"
with a faraway but personal touch.
From Leipzig comes this wish--
there where the food is delish,
where I in the cold slave on my thesis
and hope between jogs for some visits.
Most importantly, I hope you know what I do:
Christ's way is happiness true.

Merry Christmas!
