Who is Behind These Lies?

PhotobucketHas anyone ever really had a USB drive or a SanDisk get messed up because you pulled it out without "properly ejecting" it? I've suspected for years that the warning sign that comes up when I'm too hasty is lying to me, because I've never seen any adverse effects. Poll?

  1. I always try to eject it properly just in case it goes wrong like it says on the warning message thingy. Good point though, I *have* plucked them out in a rush sometimes, and nothing's gone wrong. Hmm.

  2. I had it happened to me once with my old portable drive, but I think it was because I was running program and copying files when it happened. I think it should be fine as long as the hard drive is idle, meaning not being accessed by any program, being written or extracted. I think this is an excellent suggestion for a Mythbusters segment.

  3. I've never noticed negative consequences for removing a flash-drive without the formal ejection procedure.

  4. Never had an issue. Way to question the establishment.
