We've run into a problem with our journal. Although the pipe symbol looks cool in between the "as" and the "peers," it doesn't make sense for crawlers and people searching for us on the internet, especially since not all computers have that symbol anyway. My opinion is . . . never mind, I'm not going to tell you. I will just tell you the options and ask you to please vote.

Keep the pipe symbol and not care about the search engine problems.

aspeers

Keep the pipe symbol but only with the brand on the website and publication and in all typed things put a space between "as" and "peers." (Our publication, as peers, is . . .)
Keep the pipe symbol but only with the brand on the website and publication and in all typed things keep "as" and "peers" together like this: "aspeers." (Our publication, aspeers, is . . .)
Completely eliminate the pipe symbol and use something else. (as/peers, as-peers, as*peers)
Completely eliminate the pipe symbol and have a space between the words. (as peers)
Completely eliminate the pipe symbol and have no space between the words. (aspeers)

We came to no consensus in class today. As peers, we decided to wait until next week, so here I am asking for your opinion. I hope you share my opinion. If you do, you'll get an email or response from me if you're lucky.

  2. Seeing as how I don't really understand the purpose or the meaning of a "pipe" I can't really make an informed decision. Although I do like the piped/spaced choice. I also enjoy the simplicity of the "as peers" too. I hope I get an email! :)

  3. definitely worth changing, since if crawlers don't recognize it you don't really exist on the internet. I like as/peers, myself.
