I finally took a major step forward in my outdoorsy leanings: today I joined thousands. I am now officially an REI member. From the kayaks to the coats to the tents to the cool shoes, I could spend hours at REI. The only problem is that I can't spend hundreds at REI. As a Glauser, I am an official cheapskate who makes do without things because of it. In fact, out of the six siblings, I think I'm the worst. Oh well. The thrill of kayaking through rapids of the Snake River makes me want to kayak over waterfalls. Give me a few years.
When I was little, I thought the tree in front of the "REI" was an "A," and that the company's name was really "AREI," which kind of makes sense.
Well, I'm off to Havasupai with a pack that currently weighs 26 pounds even though I hardly packed anything--no sleeping bag, no pillow, no pajamas, etc. Why does water have to be so heavy?
