March Madness 2011

So far, I'm winning the 2011 Glauser March Madness competition, mottoed "Are you smarter than a four-year-old?" Sweet.

Have you seen the March Madness "Boss Button"--a button that brings up an official-looking screen for when your boss walks by while you're watching a game? The concept makes me laugh.

Are You Happy for Other Couples?

I look at people holding hands in the hallways, and I try to think about how it all works. At the school dances, I sit in the background, and I tap my toe, and I wonder how many couples will dance to “their song.” In the hallways, I see the girls wearing the guys’ jackets, and I think about the idea of property. And I wonder if anyone is really happy. I hope they are. I really hope they are.

Ever Wondered What America and France Would Look Like Together?

I don't know how it happened, but somehow France and America overlapped on Google Maps the other day:

Guest Post at Literary Kicks

Yay! Levi over at litkicks.com allowed me to post an article interesting for lit lovers. If you like to find crazy things in old books, head on over. (I promise it's worth taking a look at.)

P.S. Check today's print version of Mormon Times to find a picture of me in the article about the Mormon Women Project. (The collage is not in the online version. And go Neylan!)

The Girl With the Beautiful Smile

Look whose story (written during a 2005 internship) has been published in this month's New Era! I was surprised to receive two copies of the New Era in the mail as well as a thank you note from a girl who had found me on Facebook, saying my article had been just what she'd needed for a piano competition.

P.S. Look at the illustration in the magazine version by downloading the PDF--it makes me laugh because they depicted me with freckles and flowery blue earrings. ;)

Less Expensive, Better Quality Shoes

Do you like TOMS shoes but wish they weren't so expensive and that they were better quality so they wouldn't fall apart so quickly?

That's what my brother thought. So he and a friend started a shoe company, and they're ready to sell!

An Invention for Someone With Big Money to Start

Just a question: why don't computer screens have screens like Kindles? After all, everyone is always going on about how Kindle's screen is less hard on the eyes, and don't most people have to spend more time at the computer at work?
