Sometimes I Can't Believe Myself

Wow. Do you ever have those days where you just disappoint yourself? That's the worst kind of disappointment. All except for one thing, today has been one very disappointing day.

I woke up way early to go to the radiologist to get a CT scan (finally we're getting somewhere with the chronic sore throat), but on the way there I took a wrong turn and arrived late.

When I got there, somehow my insurance card was no longer with my ID and semester ticket!

The lady was nice and said I could just pay the ten Euros again and then she'd give me a form to have it transferred back to my account. Oh . . . but then I didn't have ten Euros.

I had to make a new appointment . . . for two weeks from now. No!!! Pain for longer!

I still haven't found the insurance card and now I have to pay the 10 Euros without getting it back because it's a new quartile.

I finally got around to using the new washing machine, but it took a while for it to start working for me. (No one else has had a problem.)

I keep getting emails from the film place that I didn't return a film when I know it's in their mailbox.

I still haven't gotten anywhere on translating something that was sent to me over a week ago. It's awful to do this work, but I was paid for it back in June when they didn't have enough assignments for me, so I have to do it now.

Finally a highlight: I went with Sister Taylor and taught an awesome lesson to a very humble, very sweet woman named Yi Ling. We talked about so much and she wanted to learn all about the gospel. She kept asking the right questions such as, "What should I do when I pray?" and "How can I prepare for our next meeting?" Tomorrow we will bring her a Book of Mormon and next week we will meet with her again.

Another "oh no, Michelle, what have you done" minute: I got home and discovered the following:

That's right. That's my passport, or what's left after being washed (at least it was with clothes of a similar color). Only pulp remains of my student visa. Great. How many bets it won't be here on time for my trip at the end of October? I wonder if I need to replace the whole passport? All the American contents are still there and readable.

I think I'll label this post with "humor" in the hopes that some day I will find it humorous.

  1. Michelle, I'm so sorry to hear that! I have plenty of those days when I just don't seem to get anything right. Hopefully your sore throat will get better.

My sis-in-law had a sore throat for 3 months until she went to the doctor and found out it was strep throat. Hopefully it's not that.

  2. It's these types of days that make the great ones even sweeter. I'm sure you'll look back in a few years and laugh, especially about the passport. Craig and I were going to go to Cancun for our honeymoon but Craig lost his passport the day of the wedding. We were extremely stressed and worried but it all worked out (went to Hawaii instead) and now we look back and laugh. Good luck with everything.
